Two smartphones in one - smartphones

The app allows you to make separate sections in the same smartphone for work and personal use.
With time, more and more businesses are becoming comfortable with their employees using iPhones or Android phones for work, but are concerned about data security at the same time.
Professionals too worry about using the same smartphone for official and personal use simultaneously as their personal information can be seen by their superiors.
Enterproid, a mobile startup, has now come up with an application that creates a separate business profile section in the phone.
The application opens a separate interface for corporate communications including SMS, email and text messages. The corporate messages are protected by a password which are accessible to the user and IT departments only.
Personal messages, emails and SMSes are inaccessible to the IT departments.
All the enterprise features such as remote wipe tool and cloud-based device management are also there. The remote tool doesn't delete the personal messages in the smartphone. The business profile, however, doesn't get any app store access. The apps downloaded for personal use may be opened manually on the business profile .
The app is aptly named Divide and is available for free as it is a beta version right now. It is likely to adopt a subscription based business model once it comes out of beta.

Tips to keep your smartphone safe - Tips to keep your smartphone safe

Cell phones are becoming very smart, but at the same time they are becoming fragile. You need to take good care to keep them in good condition.
Cell phones are no longer just for making calls. That's old news! But another bit of old news is that these phones used to be sturdy. Remember Nokia
Today's smartphone is a snob; it won't take a beating like the poor old fella of yesteryear. You will need to take good care of these smart beauties.
Here are a few simple tips to keep your smartphone happy:
1. Cover up your phone
Phone screens are becoming bigger by the day, and with that the chances of ruining them with scratches have increased. So as soon as you buy your phone, spend   on a screen guard. These are thin plastic films that you can stick on the display so that it doesn't get scratched. These cost as little as 50 bucks in a local market, and can cost   if they are branded. But remember, if your phone has a capacitive touchscreen, do not use any old screen guard; buy a specialised guard or touch sensitivity will suffer. You can also get your phone laminated, which will cost barely Rs   and will protect the whole phone from moisture, dust, and scratches.
2. Be careful while pocketing your phone
Men often clumsily put their phone in their pocket along with keys, coins and many other inhabitants, while women put them in there purse where it shares space with lipsticks, combs and many other things I know of, but the phone doesn't want to share its space and will end up with a scratched body and screen, broken screen, and worst of all, broken circuits.
The best way to protect your phone is to assign a separate space for it in your pocket or purse. If you travel in a personal vehicle, you can also opt for a phone holster that can be attached to your belt (not a good idea in a crowded bus or train, for it is an open invitation to thieves). These holsters have the dual benefit of protecting your phone while protecting you from harmful radiation. If you travel in public transport, try a phone pouch.
3. Keep it the way you keep medicine
Keep it in a cool and dry place. Do not keep your phone in direct sun light and avoid keeping it on the dash board of your car, for it's very hot there due to the green house effect. The place near the gear shift is the best place in a car.
Moisture is another thing you need to avoid, so if you are sweating, don't keep your phone in your jeans' pocket. If you do accidentally drop your phone in water, remove all the detachable components immediately and let the phone dry (you can use a hair dryer for faster drying, though you shouldn't overdo it), visit a technician and get the phone cleaned from inside (don't do it yourself).

Nokia E7 - Quad-band

the kind that makes the world feel right. The Nokia E7 could’ve been just another Eseries phone. Oh well, that wasn’t meant to be.
Key features

 * Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support
    * Penta-band 3G with 10.2 Mbps HSDPA and 2 Mbps HSUPA
    * Anodized aluminum unibody
    * 4" 16M-color ClearBlack AMOLED capacitive touchscreen of 640 x 360 pixel resolution
    * Scratch resistant Gorilla glass display
    * 8 megapixel fixed-focus camera with LED flash
    * 720p video recording @ 25fps
    * Symbian^3 OS
    * 680 MHz ARM 11 CPU and 256 MB RAM
    * Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n
    * microHDMI port 720p TV-out functionality
    * GPS receiver with A-GPS support and free lifetime voice-guided navigation
    * Digital compass
    * 16GB of on-board storage
    * Active noise cancellation with a dedicated mic
    * DivX and XviD video support
    * Built-in accelerometer and proximity sensor
    * Standard 3.5 mm audio jack
    * Stereo FM Radio with RDS, FM transmitter
    * microUSB port with USB On-the-go
    * Flash and Java support for the web browser
    * Stereo Bluetooth 3.0
    * Good quality audio
    * Smart and voice dialing
    * Office document editor preinstalled

However, how much short-term can stretch depends on the success of the current Symbian 3 devices. So if the Nokia E7 does at least as well on the market as the N8, it might as well buy the platform a few extra years.

Sony Ericsson Xperia arc

Sony Ericsson decided that they will no longer release smartphones that are far behind in terms of OS updates compared to the rest of the mobile manufacturers, hence their latest addition to the Xperia family – the Xperia arc. This is one handset that will definitely stun you whenever you take a look at it, running on the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system. First unveiled at the recently concluded CES 2011, it is the first of a new generation of Xperia smartphones, so you can be sure that there will be more to come!

As we mentioned above, the design is what makes the new Xperia arc a looker, where it is super slim and hence, extremely light. Measuring a mere 8.7mm at its thinnest point, it will not sacrifice anything when it comes to performance, boasting an extra wide 4.2” multi-touch screen display. Sony Ericsson has certainly not gimped on material since they used premium materials to form its stunning arc body, so while you might think that this is going to break far more easily than a Hershey chocolate bar, it is still strong enough to fit nicely into your hand. One word of advice though – if you’re going to wear a really tight pair of jeans, we would suggest that you not put this in your rear pocket – you never know when it is in there and just jump onto a hard seat somewhere!

As for its innards, expect the best of Sony technology to be found, from its Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine for exceptional visual brilliance and a crystal clear image, to Sony’s award-winning Exmor R for mobile sensor (at 8.1-megapixels) with the f/2.4 lens that is capable of shooting high quality, bright pictures and HD videos even in low light conditions. Of course, all images shot can be viewed over a HDTV (preferably a Sony one) using the built in HDMI-connector. Needless to say, other specifications are pretty standard such as a 3.5mm audio jack, aGPS navigation, Bluetooth and DLNa connectivity, and Wi-Fi support among others. There is no word on pricing or availability though.
